Thirty-eight years ago, when our second son was born, I knew no one who had a child with a disability, let alone autism! I knew nothing about early intervention services or that it was possible for a child with an intellectual/developmental disability to attend school. I felt incredibly isolated and was totally dependent on guidance from my child’s pediatrician, but none came. But, as fate would have it, an advertisement in a local newspaper changed everything! This would begin my journey to understanding my child’s challenges and connecting with crucial resources. One thing led to another and, by the time he was twelve I went to work in the Office of Special Education Parent Resource Center of our local school division. That job became a vocation for me for the next twenty-three years and now the experience I garnered parenting my son and working for the school system has led me to a new chapter in my life with the formation of B&B Special Needs Advocacy, LLC. My goal is to empower parents through education and advocacy. I extend my personal invitation to contact me to discuss your family member’s needs and determine whether B&B Special Needs Advocacy, LLC is a fit for you!
